Entire Midwest Town Drives 1,000 Miles to Get Away
As morning sunlight gently spills over the endless horizon of the sea, an entire Midwest town awakes and finds themselves transported to Madeira Beach for Spring Break.
"Can you believe it? SPRING BREAK!" local slacker Bridger yells towards the infinite, gorgeous ocean. "Look at all these beach hotties! I'm so pumped!"
Having driven nearly 1,000 miles to see the ocean with his family, Bridger then spent the next two hours scrolling on TikTok.
Meanwhile, just ten yards away, classmates Juniper and Kaiya groaned as they started their morning round of selfies. "Can you believe the creeps on this beach?”
Local teacher Bethany Everly said she's looked forward to the beach ever since last March.
"I have a Salt Life sticker on my car and everything. It's just so nice to get away from students."
Just then she heard tiny voices scream. "Hey! It's Mrs. Everly! You see her? You see her?"
She recoils. The Honest School Times asked if they were her students, but she denied it. “No, no, it's impossible. Of all the beaches, there's no way that could be..."
"Yeah, you guys, it’s Mrs. Everly! Hi, Mrs. Everly! How did we drive a thousand miles to see each other? Oh, did you bring the mug we got you for Christmas?”
Bethany just shook her head. “What are the odds?”
As kids played on, local teacher Grumpy Gus roamed the beach with his metal detector. We asked, what are you looking for, Grumpy Gus?
"I lost my dang shaker of salt," he started. "Been here three days, but I've got nothin' to show except for my new tattoo."
He continued grumbling. "I blew out my flip flop, stepped on a pop top. I broke my leg twice, and I had to limp on back home."
What a sourpuss!
Regardless, The Honest School Times wants to wish everyone a happy Spring Break!
