The Paste Eaters Blog is for teachers who get the feeling that the only opinions that count in education… do not belong to teachers. I also love teaching writing and showing other teachers why it’s easier than they think. I try to post weekly.
As for me, I’m a second generation teacher with experience across middle school, high school, and college admissions. I’ve presented locally, across the Hoosier state, and across the nation. My talk “Help! I don’t know how to teach writing!” addresses myths and misconceptions towards teaching writing, helping teachers make that first step.
As of this writing (Fall 2024), I’m working on a series called Teach Writing Tomorrow, which serves as the follow up to my most popular talk. The end goal will be serializing a small book—an afternoon read—encouraging other teachers to make that first step towards teaching writing.
As I say, you don’t have to be a walking encyclopedia to teach writing. You don’t even have the be the most creative person ever. You just have to embrace the jazz of imperfection!
